Contested deletion
[edit]This page should not be speedily deleted because . . . I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I will just say that my creation of this page was not related to or based on the previous page that was deleted years ago. Jeff Knox is a champion of a golf tournement (the Azalea Invitational) that has a Wikipedia page with a list of winners. Since he was in the news recently and is a noted personage I figured he deserved a page so that the link to his name on the champions list for the Azalea Tournement had a corresponding Wikipedia page. --Ned Hartley — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nedhartley (talk • contribs) 02:36, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- I've declined the speedy deletion request, as the earlier AFD discussion was back in 2005 when the article only claimed that the subject was a student and expecting to graduate in 2006 (with no mention of golf and not enough to even tell if it's the same Jeff Knox). There may be new questions about notability, but G4 based on that old AFD is not applicable now. Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:00, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- Checking further, the original version of this article was clearly not about the same person (as their ages are very different). Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:07, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- Finally, I've removed the AFD note above, as it was clearly not about the same person and was thus misleading (and the original would have been a simple CSD these days). Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 11:11, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
