Is the Cowher Story true?
[edit]I find this story to be quite interesting, seeing how neither Fisher nor Cowher have statistics for the 1985 season. Cowher was a coach in Cleveland in 1985. In any event, presuming Cowher was playing for the Eagles, I also would note that the Eagles did not play the Bears in 1985, or 1984 for that matter. If this leg-breaking tale is true, somebody should speak up with the facts. If it's true, my guess would be a preseason game, but the Eagles and Bears did not play in the 1985 preseason either. Hmmm.
The preceding was cut from the article and pasted here. --Nufftin 19:25, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
- Found a source, but this just doesn't seem right. This section was probably copied word for word from the site I found, I just hope it is not that infamous wikipedia source circle. IMHO, this whole section needs to be reworked and a better source found, or it needs to be deleted.24.158.102.32 18:34, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- OK, according to databaseFootball.com Cowher was not even playing in 1985.[1] I am deleting the section, it can always be reverted and reworked later. It just smells of plagiarism and inconsistency.24.158.102.32 18:54, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
Agreed...this keeps making it back in to both Bill Cowher and Jeff Fisher's pages. The two teams did not play one another either year: Pro Football-Reference page for 1984 Eagles and Pro Football-Reference page for 1985 EaglesKevin28 (talk) 07:13, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
- they just said on the cbs broadcast that fisher broke his leg in a collision with bill cowher.
I think I found out where this story came from. In 1983, Fisher played for the Bears as a punt returner, and Cowher was with the Eagles. The teams met on October 23, 1983. I do not know what happened, but Fisher's stats for that year end with the game against the Eagles. Maybe this is the game where Cowher injured Fisher's leg, BUT Fisher went on to play in all of Chicago's games the next season (1984), returning over 50 punts. As has been stated, this (1984) was Fisher's last season, and the Bears did not play the Eagles. If Cowher did injure Fisher's leg in 1983, it was not what ended Fisher's career, as has been reported. The story appears to have been blown way out of proportion and taken on a life of its own. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.24.191.82 (talk) 08:12, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
The CBS broadcast said "help end" his career... not "end" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.181.252.184 (talk) 19:43, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- CBS showed the video today, while the CBS crew was interviewing Fisher. Interesting. Enigma msg 23:06, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Another person
[edit]There is another man named Jeff Fisher whose name links here. In 2004 he lost an election to Mark Foley, the Florida congressman involved in a sex scandal. There are many signs posted around Philadelphia instructing people to Google "Jeff Fisher Al Gore" to learn about his conspiracy theories. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TomStike (talk • contribs) 23:04, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello, please explain what I did wrong here, my addition was removed.
[edit]And how can I improve it? I included citations after every sentence to either neutral national sites, and an article by a NFL Hall of Fame committee member.
Here is what I wrote:
Between St. Louis and Los Angeles Fisher's reputation as a dirty coach has continued[1]. He hired Gregg Wiliams the focus of the NFL Bounty Gate investigation as Defensive Coordinator[2]. Bounty Gate is an incident where over the course of three years (2009-2011) Greg Williams administered a program where New Orleans Saints players were financially rewarded for injuring opposing players [3]. Fisher's teams constantly rank near the worst in the league for number and severity of penalties drawn [4]. Fisher's Rams even have injured a player, Travis Swanson of the Detroit Lions on a traditionally non-contact play [5] [6].
I came back to edit the first sentence and the whole thing was gone. The first sentence itself referenced a line in the description of his Titans years.
Perhaps if I word the first line..."reputation as a controversial coach"?
Fisher has the 9th most games of any NFL coach [7]so he deserves a paragraph describing his style. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Toronado3800 (talk • contribs) 00:10, 18 October 2016 (UTC)

Jeff Fisher is the second losingest coach in the history of the NFL which is an impressive feet considering how few of games he has coached compared to other coaches on the losingest coaching list. 216.87.239.102 (talk) 23:53, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
