Birthdate

[edit]

Thanks for your interest. 7-15-55 was a very hot day at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, where and when I was born. I was told labor took seven hours and ended at 10:07 p.m. -Jed IMDB says his birthdate is in 1963, but there is text from User:24.119.113.1 [1] that asserts his birthdate is July 15, 1955. Does anyone have any other authoritative sources? -- Bovineone 01:13, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Have you seen him? I'm thinking 1955 is more likely. Also, he started working at KROQ in 1978. He would have been 23, which makes sense. If he was born 1963 he would have been 15 working the night shift. Unlikely, if not illegal! -- Mark 01:13, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I've submitted a change to IMDB with the corrected information. The vpop.net article listed in the References section also confirms that 1955 date. It will take them several weeks to process such changes. -- Bovineone 03:53, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is much cooler than FB. -Jed

A few years back the article had a lot of decent content, now it only covers a few facts. What happened? -Jed

Hey Mark, remember you are dealing with an entity not especially concerned with the law at various points. When I was 23, KROQ was known to have been bouncing paychecks. -Jed — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jedgould (talkcontribs) 09:44, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Californian Accent

[edit]

The article mentions that Jed The Fish's accent is distinctly Californian. I have an issue with this, because living in California all my life and listening to the accents we do indeed have, Jed does not qualify in any way shape or form. When you listen to the radio station he's on, KROQ, all the DJ's except him have California accents. To be honest, his way of speaking sounds more like he may be suffering from some sort of mental disability then anything else, which is actually the reason I came this article to see if it's documented. Regardless of why he talks that way, I think it's a mistake to list his accent as Californian, because that is not what a Californian accent sounds like. 76.95.58.104 (talk) 23:20, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Born and bred in the South Bay of Cali. Believe me... Jed talks like an articulate surf dude. The douche bag above is just flaming. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.80.60.230 (talk) 04:33, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your interest. I got large in Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, and a little Casa Grande, Arizona (many of the Roq Joqs in this period were actually from Arizona). I kind of agree with the flamer guy. Especially in the 80s and 90s. I wanted to believe I did not have an accent. At the beginning I wanted to be Frazier Smith. On KROQ, I may have had my own casual voice that didn't necessarily represent surfers, although many thought so. I also have a way of talking to young people which could be called California casual. I will address medical conditions affecting my voice at a different time and place. -Jed — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jedgould (talkcontribs) 09:24, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
