Reverted edits
[edit]I've reverted a major edit by an IP editor and left a message on their talk page, but in case it's not a stable IP address I'll copy it here:
- Hallo, I have reverted the major edit you made to this article because there were so many problems that it was difficult to fix them all at once and easier to revert and start the changes again.
- Problems included:
- The References section was in the right place - you moved it
- You tried to change the categories, leaving a lot of redlinked non-existent categories. If you want to propose new categories, fine, but you need to create them before assigning them to an article.
- You created a lot of red links in the article: I don't have time right now to check whether any of them should have been different links to existing articles, but please don't make red links to topics which are unlikely to become an article at some point.
- English Wikipedia doesn't use "th" etc in dates - so not "22nd November 2019" but "22 November 2019". (See WP:MOSNUM)
- The lead paragraph needs to show why someone is in the encyclopedia. In your version the first paragraph was her early biography, no indication of notability.
- There is a lot to learn about editing Wikipedia but it's an interesting journey. Happy editing!

- I have removed the COI template since AFAICT it's no longer relevant or valid. Let me know if you feel otherwise. Crum375 (talk) 21:03, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
Help me
[edit]This help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
I'm puzzled about my own entry in Wikipedia - I gather that there has been an attempt to enlarge the present very incomplete entry but, due, I think, to ignorance of Wikipedia's requirements by the person concerned (whose name I recognise but who has no commercial or financial interest in me or my entry), the attempted revision was taken down.
How can this be dealt with so the present incomplete entry is added to with relevant updated items and references (and a photo and infobox added - as requested by Wiki)?
I look forward to hearing further from you.
Kind regards,
Jeanne Socrates

P.S. I have photos of my arrival at the end of my last circumnavigation which I have been given to publish where I want to - can I use these on my Wiki page in response to the request for photo(s)?
If I want to post a photo from another source how do I let you know that they are happy for me to publish it on Wikipedia?
If it has already been published publicly on the Internet - is that sufficient to allow it to be posted on Wikipedia?
Thanks,
Jeanne — Preceding unsigned comment added by Seasocks (talk • contribs) 07:53, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- It merely being on the internet is insufficient; the rights to a photo typically reside with the photographer, not the person depicted in the photo(unless you have a contract or other legal agreement assigning you copyright). The person with the copyright to the photo needs to be the one to upload it; see WP:UPIMAGE for more information.
- Regarding the article text, you are welcome to propose changes on this page, you may use either the Help Me process that you used here, or make your requests as formal edit requests(click for instructions). 331dot (talk) 09:13, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Seasocks: There is useful information at WP:AUTOPROB, but in short if there are problems in the article, or new information for which you can provide Reliable independent published sources, then please add that information here on the talk page, and someone will be likely to make appropriate changes to the article. Someone reverted the mass of changes made by "Mike Underwood92115" (who has made no edits to any other articles before or since) because he had swept aside a properly formatted Wikipedia article and replaced it with his own version which paid no attention to Wikipedia's style, referencing systems, etc. He said "updated text per Jeanne", implying that you had asked him to edit, or perhaps that he had copied from your own autobiography published elsewhere. After his misguided edits were reverted, I see that I used some of his suggested material to upgrade the article. Please tell us here what major omissions you still see, bearing in mind that not every detail of life or achievements will always be appropriate for inclusion in an international encyclopedia, and that Wikipedia only includes information which is already published elsewhere so cannot be the first place to publish, for example, details of your childhood. - "Q: ..... How was it that you got to be here in Australia?"
- A: "Well as you say, we're talking on ANZAC Day, just like we did two years ago. My father was an RAAF pilot and he crashed when I was five weeks old in England whilst retraining to pilot Halifaxes, having piloted Wellingtons, in which he'd completed 24 sorties over Germany. So that was really what brought me here, because I'd only just discovered that part of my family."

- Can I re-post that photo?
- If none of the photos of me shown in these various links can be made use of, can I use a photo if I send the email from the photographer who gave me 'carte Blanche' to make use of it (and others taken at the same time)?
