Yes it is Jean-Paul Bourelly and I am pleased that my post got a reaction from someone at Wikipedia. I have been trying to get some ones attention for some time. Seems the bad writing did it. Wikipedia has become a powerful first reference for many people trying to learn more about my career, therefore I must attempt to try and supply the site with the best info possible. The English site does not address my work or its characteristics in any way. It lists a number of artists I have had some limited associations with. However the list gives a foggy picture at best of the direction my career has taken artistically. As an independent guitarists/produce working Internationally, there are journalist who would know the facts that I have logged below. Most specifically, for the last 15 year I have concentrated my efforts on exploring new sonic language through the guitar with an accent on music created around the idea of the African Diaspora. I would like to see something about the bi-tonal harmonic, poly-rhythmic concept that I introduced on my 2001 release Trance Atlantic (Boom Bop II). I continue this harmonic exploration until today. http://fusionjazzandsomethingelse.blogspot.com/2010/09/jean-paul-bourelly-trance-atlantic-boom.html my recordings: Its important to talk about the recordings. Who's on them; what style was I working on;any distinctive characteristics from one CD to the other?? the concert series that I founded in 1998 at the House of world Cultures Berlin called "The Back Room" http://www.blackatlantic.com/2/audio02.html http://www.culturebase.net/project_detail.php?32

I worked curating, as well as performing in the International cultural project "The Black Atlantic". Congo Sqaure was the name of my project within the Black Atlantic. http://worldmusiccentral.org/2005/02/25/congo-square-a-film-about-the-african-diaspora/ I performed with a wide variety of artists like Dou Dou N'Diaye Rose and jazz saxophonist Archie Shepp Pianist Omar Sosa and many others. The concerts were addressing pressing issues like "cultural context" essentialism and Blackness; Improvisation as a tool to examine transnational relations, migration and Diaspora Identity. Concerts: "Channeling the Jazz Impulse",Bourelly/Ndiaye Rose/Shepp "Navigating Democracy", Navigating the Essence of Cool("Yoruba Cool" "Ghetto Cool"), "Navigating Otherness"; Spirits and Resistance (Ayibobo with Omar Sosa); E-Motions (Bourelly and DJ Spooky); Navigating Utopia (with Muneer B Fennel) Activating the Rhythm Arts" (with Tony Allen) ,"Thinking of Elvin Jones and Tony Williams" (CindyBlackman, Santi DeBriano and JP Bourelly) http://archiv.hkw.de/en/programm/programm2004/BlackAtlantic_Plattform2/c_index.html http://www.latinjazznet.com/2009/10/17/reviews/cds/mark-weinstein-omar-sosa-tales-from-the-earth/ My groups and my compostional concept since then have tried to go deeper into all of the aforementioned ideas. Here are the groups I have formed to express these impulses musically: Boom Bop, http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=7099 Vibe Music, http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/musician.php?id=17238 Gypsys Re-Loaded, http://www.kibla.org/en/news/news/?no_cache=1&tx_ttnews%5Bpointer%5D=40&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=500&tx_ttnews%5BbackPid%5D=160&cHash=78d19c0cc4 3 Kings, http://gpfabe.eu/ The BluWave Bandits, http://prince.org/msg/8/104076 Citizen X http://juancarloshernandezjazzphotographer.blogspot.com/2010/03/jean-paul-bourelly.html CutMotion http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/jeanpaulb3 Lauf zum Meer,(Theater Piece by Thorsten Lensing and Jan Hein) http://www.hellerau.org/spielplan/archiv/lauf-zum-meer-ein-idyll-von-william-carlos-williams/ Kiss the Sky http://www.porgy.at/prog-01.php?id=4301&lang=en jpgotmangos label/productions is where I develop most of this music.

Buddy Miles, Robin Trower, Jack Bruce, Terry Bozzio,?? Although my name has been referenced with some of these artists, I think I might have played on a jam session with Bozzio and Bruce Televised on the German TV Stuttgart Jazz Open in 1997, maybe?? but Buddy Miles and Trower I never played with them? I knew Buddy briefly and his palying had an impact on my taste in drummers. I like the definition and purpose he had. More than one of the drummers I used had this. Alfredo Alias comes to mind immediately. http://www.discogs.com/Jean-Paul-Bourelly-Bluwave-Bandits-Saints-And-Sinners/release/1055196 The people who have made an impact on my career. Although I always supported their cause by performing on several of their shows, I was never a member of the Black Rock Coalition because I have always said that I don't agree with the name. This was my response to a blog started by writer Joe Fields on the subject in 2007. http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=151884704&blogId=293086039

I can suggest checking out the German wiki site. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Paul_Bourelly It has much more information that is detailed and fairly up to date about my musical direction. I myself might not be able to edit this according to the Wikipedia guidelines correctly but facts should get out. I am very open to collaborating with a Wiki savvy individual(s) who can log facts correctly about my work. Anyone who is more aware of the guidelines and bio formats rules and who would like to help for the sake of accuracy please feel free to contact me through this discussion page. At present the English language Wikipedia on my career conveys a very superficial overview of my work. I hope its possible to deepen that soon. Most respectfully yours, Jean-Paul Bourelly

Most of the information in the current entry comes from AllMusiccom. All information on Wikipedia comes from published sources. That's the rule. All information has to come from published, reliable, verifiable, independent, third-party sources.

That rule introduces limitations and problems. Articles about jazz musicians can be difficult because there isn't much published material about jazz musicians, outside of, for example, AllMusic, Downbeat, JazzTimes, All About Jazz, and the occasional article or obituary in The New York Times.

It may sound odd that although musicians themselves can be used as sources (about themselves), they can't be used as sources for every fact, detail, or opinion related to them and their career, and they can't be the only source. The level of detail will probably seem unsatisfactory to someone who reads a Wikipedia entry expecting it to be a perfect summary of their career, skills, and personality. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, with a format and a set of its rules of its own, and it's always changing. Always. Every minute. By anyone with an internet connection. Wikipedia is not a newspaper, a blog, a magazine, a TV show, an interview, a press release, a musician's web site, a music web site, a record label's advertisement, a résumé, or a book about jazz. Wikipedia's editors are unpaid. They are volunteers, generously offering their time and effort, doing the best they can within all kinds of limitations.

I'll think about the complaint regarding too much weight given to the Black Rock Coalition and Robin Trower, etc., as mentioned above. I sourced that information from AllMusic only yesterday. I read the Talk page comments only a few minutes ago.
