"A juvenile?"

[edit]

The article says: "Together or separately, the Lofficiers have written several original science fiction novels: a juvenile, Robonocchio (2004), ..."

This is ambiguous at best (is the novel "juvenile" in that it's like the premature effort of a kid? or is the novel aimed at kids?); lousy English at worst. Would someone who knows please provide the correct modifier? Suggested: a) "juvenile effort"; b) "immature work"; c) "children's book"; d) "young adult book"; etc. 4.237.255.106 (talk) 08:57, 21 November 2008 (UTC)American-tourist-who-got-here-from-the-crazy-Occitania-talkpage[reply]

In my days, when I used to read Robert Heinlein's wonderful science fiction novels written for younger readers, they were called "juveniles", that was the term of the trade. They're still referred that way, i.e. "Heinlein's juveniles". JMLofficier (talk) 09:03, 29 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is a well-known term (OK I'm basing this on me knowing it anyway, but that might be from a well-spent youth reading Heinlein) but I suppose there is potential for confusion. So perhaps it is worth erring on the side of caution and either finding another way of terming it (or add a footnote to explain it) - I suspect just linking to Young-adult fiction (the favoured option from juvenile) should do it but note there is Heinlein juveniles. move to "Randy and Jean-Marc Lofficier"?

[edit]

If Jean-Marc Lofficier often collaborates with his wife Randy, are they separately notable? Is Jean-Marc more notable than Randy, whose name is a redirect here. Jason Quinn (talk) 02:45, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
