Talk:Jay Greene/GA1
GA sweeps
[edit]This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force in an effort to ensure all listed Good articles continue to meet the Good article criteria. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed.
- I am concerned that no proper GA review ever appears to have taken place, and I was tempted for that reason to immediately delist this article. The issues needing to be attended to are not so major though as for it to be unrealistic that they can be attended to within the next seven days.
- The most serious problem is the almost complete lack of biographical and early life information. We're not even told when Greene was born. Is he married? Who to? Does he have any children? As it stands the article is not about Jay Greene, only his NASA career.
- The lead is a little too short to adequately summarise the article.
- The Footnotes and References are laid out somewhat inconsistently. For instance, in References it says "Reinhold, Robert. "At Mission Control, Silence and Grief Fill a Day Long Dreaded", New York Times, 29 January 1986, p. A8.", but in Footnotes it says "Reinhold, Robert. "At Mission Control, Silence and Grief Fill a Day Long Dreaded", New York Times, 29 January 1986, pp. A8." Why is the page number given again in References anyway?
- In the same section, sometimes page numbers are given as "page X", other times as "p. X", and even as "pp. A22", which appears to be a reference to a single page, not a range of pages. A consistent style needs to be adopted.
- The In films section is far too small. If the material is notable, then it should be incorporated into the article.
- "His responsibilities in Mission Control would include monitoring the trajectory of the Apollo spacecraft ..." Tense. Did they or didn't they?
- "... notable for having included Rep. Bill Nelson (D-FL) ..." Need to spell out what Rep. and (D-FL) mean for those not familiar with the US system of democracy.
- "Greene also hoped to spend more time during his retirement riding his bicycle." This doesn't seem like very encyclopedic information.
I will check back in no less than seven days. If progress is being made and issues are being addressed, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted (such a decision may be challenged through WP:GAR). If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAN. Feel free to drop a message on my talk page if you have any questions, and many thanks for all the hard work that has gone into this article thus far. As the above issues remain unaddressed, this article has been delisted. --Malleus Fatuorum (talk) 16:21, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
