[edit]I don't understand the Wikipedia obsession with identifying who is Jewish; it strikes me as either anti-Semitism or an invitation to anti-Semitism. In any case, Reference 4 does not support the contention that Jared Gilman is Jewish (whether he is or not).
reply: Hi I looked at the article and it did say he had a bar mitzvah so he is Jewish, but it does seem weird to have that kind of detail. should we take it out? POTMUM — Preceding unsigned comment added by Potmum (talk • contribs) 19:57, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
OK -- I missed the bar mitzvah reference. I say leave it be, then. I'm more concerned with the overall practice of identifying people as Jewish. Is it to say, "Aren't we an amazing group of people?" If so, I think it is likely -- sooner or later -- to provoke a backlash which is not good for Jews. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.46.200.231 (talk) 15:48, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
I sort of thought it was an odd addition too. To write this article, I basically mirrored the article on Sara Hayward (the other kid star from Moonrise Kingdom) and that article doesn't mention her religion. It seems like maybe too much information for such a short article. I am ok with taking it out or leaving it in. Really? Are you both so ignorant to believe its has something to do with either far of those far out possibilities? Yeah, when their talking about someone who is Jewish they state them as such. Yet do they not do the same for Native Americans, as well as many others? You think it might just be that information is power?(potnum) Or that they are not so conceited, but perhaps simply have a sense of self acceptance?(second post) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.194.162.250 (talk) 16:54, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
