All the correct sourcing information is under "External Links" I just can't seem to get footnotes to work. All the quotes are followed with a name/source in parenthesis. Lesahra (talk) 05:35, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

flying

[edit]

This article is oddly missing any mention of the squid's ability to glide through the air! It is called a "flying" squid for a reason after all! See http://www.statemaster.com/encyclopedia/Flying-and-gliding-animals#Molluscs for an online reference to this behavior. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.13.43.15 (talk) 14:01, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I know. Though propably those communist douches of wikipedia won't accept common knowledge and almost self-evident descriptions if there is no citation to some liberal algae-haging hippie oceanologist.--195.130.92.43 (talk) 14:06, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, this is sort of a random (but necessary) comment from someone unexperienced w/wikipedia discussion page format, but....... this article has absolutely nothing about how these squids fly (and they do fly, sort of. Better than flying fish). THis is kinds important, e'rybody. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.70.141.186 (talk) 05:08, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

added "Flying" with this edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Japanese_Flying_Squid&oldid=466826332 but used ref http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1338220/Graham-Ekins-Japanese-squid-photos-leap-air-dodge-predators.html , did not use ref of http://www.statemaster.com/encyclopedia/Flying-and-gliding-animals#Molluscs rkmlai (talk) 07:34, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Are we sure this is a northern hemisphere only species? Because I've just photographed it at 23South 155West. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.2.237.37 (talk) 08:58, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
