Births and deaths
Continuing the ongoing effort to reduce the size of the Births and Deaths sections to make them manageable, I've removed some celebrities with few or no articles in other wikipedias, moving the entries to the appropriate Year in Topic article if they were not already present. See also Wikipedia_talk:Days_of_the_year#June_11_and_removal_of_entries_by_Deb for ongoing discussion, evidence of general consensus and proposals for improvement.Deb (talk) 19:22, 4 April 2015 (UTC)
- That's nonsensical IMHO. There has been discussion of this, and editors have not reached consensus. You are relying on the acts of one or more editors. Writing one or more (no more than nine) wikis. Wikipedia does not rely on wikis. And the action of one editor writing a wiki does not make a person notable by long-established wikipedia principles. I disagree strongly with your action here, believe it lacks the proper discussion and consensus, and believe it flies in the face of long-established wikipedia principles. Should be 1971 not 1972. 156.34.41.18 (talk) 20:56, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
fictional births
Pipsqueak Pamplemousse was born on this day. Is the list only for real people or fictional characters too? ScratchMarshall (talk) 20:52, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
George Balanchine Russian vs Georgian
The man was born in Russia and, per the Wiki article, never lived in Georgia. His father was Georgian but apparently his mother was Russian. Nothing in the W article indicates that he called himself Georgian as opposed to Russian. If he had never left Russia I suppose we could call him Russo-Georgian. I don't like all this hyphenation - I would simply call him an American (of such and such ancestry) but given that we do it, if the Georgian side is mentioned, he should be Georgian-Russian-American. --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 00:46, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
