Jantirar: the title borne by the head of the family holding the mountain fortress of Ambassel.

The office of Jantirar (or Jan Serar) is mentioned by Remedius Prutky in his Travels to Ethiopia and Other Countries, trans. J.H. Arrowsmith-Brown (London: Hakluyt Society, 1991), p. 130 & note.
