JamisonParker is a gradually rising and influential emo/rock band. Being based in California, their making it to Kansas is quite an accomplishment--it is halfway across the country. Not only are they doing quite well, but their music is of excellent quality and displays deep meaning.
One of their songs has been referenced in another article as well. "Slow Suicide," most likely their most famous song, was referenced in the "List of Songs about Suicide" article at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_about_suicide.
