This article must adhere to the biographies of living persons (BLP) policy, even if it is not a biography, because it contains material about living persons. If such material is repeatedly inserted, or if you have other concerns, please report the issue to this noticeboard. If you are a subject of this article, or acting on behalf of one, and you need help, please see this help page. |

The contentious topics procedure applies to this page. This page is related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, which has been designated as a contentious topic. This article should adhere to the gender identity guideline because it contains material about one or more trans men. Precedence should be given to self-designation as reported in the most up-to-date reliable sources, anywhere in article space, even when it doesn't match what's most common in reliable sources. Any person whose gender might be questioned should be referred to by the pronouns, possessive adjectives, and gendered nouns (for example "man/woman", "waiter/waitress", "chairman/chairwoman") that reflect that person's latest expressed gender self-identification. Some people go by singular they pronouns, which are acceptable for use in articles. This applies in references to any phase of that person's life, unless the subject has indicated a preference otherwise. Former, pre-transition names may only be included if the person was notable while using the name; outside of the main biographical article, such names should only appear once, in a footnote or parentheses. If material violating this guideline is repeatedly inserted, or if there are other related issues, please report the issue to the LGBTQ+ WikiProject, or, in the case of living people, to the BLP noticeboard. |
Questions / items to add?
[edit]- Does anybody know where he was born? He mentions being Scottish but I don't know whether he means that he was born in Scotland or just being of Scottish decent. I don't want to dig too deep because I fear I am getting close to stumbling over idiots trying to discover his deadname and I don't need to see that sort of clownery.
- Is there any RS coverage of the incident where transphobes stole his early top surgery pictures and misrepresented them to try to stir up fear and body horror over the surgery? I had a quick look and all I found was him complaining about it (with justification!) in a video and on Twitter.
- Can we add more about his more general video content? The media coverage focusses almost completely on the trans stuff but a lot of the time he is just doing general videos about silly subreddits and the like. He has also covered other serious topics, like being in an interracial relationship. Do we have good sources for any of that?
- Has he, or the channel, received any other awards?

I don't know about any of those things, but I have various sources proving his middle name is Anthony, which I'm adding now. I agree that there needs to be more mentions of his non-trans content as well and I feel like there could be more about his engagement and the rescheduling of his wedding because of the pandemic. I believe he is from Essex as he graduated from the University of Essex and appears to have lived there for a very long time, I'm guessing he meant of Scottish descent. I don't know where a previous editor got Colchester from though, as they didn't provide a source and I've never heard him mention it as his birthplace, but I'll look into that soon.
Also yeah, it's unfortunate that some people feel like they have to know his deadname, he has chosen not to share it and avoiding deadnames is a basic level of respect for trans people. I'll definitely look into the things you've mentioned, just need good sources.

UPDATE: They did provide a source, just apparently I can't read. He's from Colchester, Essex.

- Seeing as the article states that he has a PhD, and we have a source for his doctoral thesis, would there be a problem in listing him as "Dr. Jamie Anthony Raines" in the lead? Valkurite (talk) 01:44, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
Bride and Prejudice
[edit]Raines and Lotun were featured in one episode of a six-episode documentary series; They were not the only or most important subject of the documentary, which is the impression this section leaves with the reader. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.49.28.78 (talk) 14:02, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
- I believe that is due to the article (used as the source) talks exclusively about Raines and Lotun in the show. The article isn't about the show itself, but about Raines' and Lotun's place in it. Based on the analysis of the article used, I think the wording is correct. RaptorGirl97 (talk) 19:37, 29 August 2023 (UTC)

- I did a quick Google Images search and I didn't find any images that were licenced in a way that we could use. DanielRigal (talk) 00:40, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
