Note that in 1966 there were a large number of independent candidates including James Shankar Singh who is not included in the above but was an Alliance supporter.
In September 1977 the Alliance, in at least in the Lautoka seat supported the Flower candidate (Jai Ram Reddy) against the Dove candidate (Sidiq Koya). Hence in this election the Alliance's Indian vote is lower than normal and NFP's (which is actually the total of Flower and Dove votes is higher than normal.
In general the NFP Indian votes gradually increased to stabilize at 83%, whereas Alliance's Indian votes decreased to stabilize at around 15%
In 1987 NFP was in coalition with labour

- Thanks for that. I thought I read somewhere that the Alliance vote among Indians rose to 24 percent in 1982, but that source must have been confusing it with 1972. David Cannon 11:58, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
