Neutrality

[edit]

The opening paragraph described Roosevelt as being neutral between the candidates without any verification of that claim. He had not publicly endorsed either candidate and I changed the paragraph to reflect that fact rather than the unsubstantiated claim that he was neutral.

So both the removal of the bad external links and the tagging of the section have been reverted without real discussion. What's up? Thargor Orlando (talk) 14:15, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What's up? Your removal is contested, that's what's up. It's now incumbent on you to show that the links are "bad". Beyond My Ken (talk) 16:30, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, why do you believe those links meet external linking guidelines exactly? The burden of proof is on the person who wants to include the information, after all. Thargor Orlando (talk) 16:43, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, the links have been there for quite a long time, and you removed them, so the onus is on you to show why they do not meet with policy. Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:33, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's not how it works. As the links provide undue weight toward one point of view, and act as a directory of links, they should be removed per the guideline. If you disagree, you, as the person who wants to add information, needs to demonstrate it. That's how it works. Thargor Orlando (talk) 22:01, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it most certainly is how it works. Your Bold edit was Reverted and now a Discussion takes place to determine consensus. Meanwhile the article stays in the status quo ante, per WP:BRD. BMK (talk) 03:57, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

This subject is named James Roosevelt Jr., not James Roosevelt III. The name with Jr. is supported by all the references here, most notably the FDR Library genealogy, and the name with the III is supported by none. This probably arose because on the Wikipedia page for his father, the father was incorrectly listed as James Roosevelt II. I corrected that page and am now correcting this one. I don't see how to edit the page title, "James Roosevelt (lawyer)." If I knew how I would probably insert ", Jr." there. Suggestions appreciated.
