- I will review this article today or tomorrow. Fair warning, I don't know much about cricket, just seems like an interesting guy. Cheers, « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 17:59, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
- Lead
- "provide more succinct arguments" - more than what? Maybe "very succinct"?
- Rephrased this. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- "Primarily played for his fast-medium pace bowling, Parfitt played for both" - double use of "played" isn't ideal. Maybe "used" or something similar? « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 00:48, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- Changed as suggested. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- Life and judicial career
- Not 100% necessary, but you could link Roman Catholicism
- I would expand "BA" to "Bachelor of Arts" or use the {{Abbr}} template
- Expanded. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- "Weybridge, Surrey and for three years at The Oratory School" - add "then" after "and"
- Changed as suggested. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- "a role he continued until 1918." - recommend changing "continued" to "maintained"
- Changed as suggested. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- I would do an interwiki link to wiktionary:witticism, since it is not a common word. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 00:48, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- Changed as suggested. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- Cricket career
- Being a novice cricket person, I would link Slip (cricket). I don't know what mid-off is, but there isn't a Wikipedia article that I can tell. Also, wicket.
- "during the school holidays,[9] and made his debut in August 1883" - I would split in two, as it is a long sentence. i.e. "holidays. He made his debut"
- Changed as suggested. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- Bowled is linked twice in the body of the article (WP:DUPLINK)
- Removed one link. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- Somerset is linked twice in the body of the article « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 01:11, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- Oddly, I can only find it linked once in the body. Somerset is linked once, and Somerset County Cricket Club once too. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- Images
- File:Parfitt, JJ.jpg is almost certainly in PD, but is safely claimed as fair use. I would investigate this more to see if it is old enough to meet PD requirements, but for this review the tag and rationale are sufficient. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 17:59, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
- I imagine you're right, but I don't know any of the original publication details, and there is a mathematical chance that life of the photographer plus 70 years hasn't been hit. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- References
- I don't know if it is just me, but none of the Cricket Archive links work. here says they do, so I don't know what's up. Just check again and confirm they work for you.
- All works fine for me, though it hits a paywall. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- Everything else looks good here. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 01:11, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- Overall
- Everything looks good. Just a few minor items. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 01:11, 10 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for your review. Harrias talk 06:02, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
