Swearing allegiance
[edit]As far as I can see from Records_of_members_of_the_Oireachtas#Members_of_both_the_British_Parliament_and_of_the_Oireachtas, he was one of the only two Sinn Féin MPs/TDs to have taken his seat in Westminster and sworn the oath of allegiance at any time in his political career - see https://api.parliament.uk/historic-hansard/people/mr-laurence-ginnell/index.html which records his last contribution on 27 June 1917. I suggest that this should be noted in his article. Alekksandr (talk) 15:16, 15 December 2018 (UTC)
- He was an IPP MP when he took his seat in 1906 so taking the oath then was not remarkable. He became a Sinn Fein MP over 12 years later. People's political can change a lot in that time. As an SF MP in 1919, he was abstensionist. If he was an SF MP that took the oath, now that would be noteworthy, taking the oath twelve years earlier as an IPP MP really isn't.
