An anonymous editor edited the article and made it state that James was a son of Rev. John Macaulay, making James a brother of Zachary Macaulay, and descending from the Lewis Macaulays. I can't find any reference to support this ancestry for James, so i'm going to revert the edits.--Celtus (talk) 07:26, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added that James was descended from the MacAulays of Ardincaple! Since no references have been given in support I'm removing the claim.--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 07:40, 5 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
