Comment. Since James Johnson (carving artist) has been given a two-word parenthetical qualifier, the artist under discussion could be analogously described as James Johnson (drawing artist) per here. Disambiguation by nationality does indeed seem a most reasonable compromise. I would support James Johnson (artist) → James Johnson (British artist), paired with James Johnson (carving artist) → James Johnson (American artist) or, alternatively, James Johnson (artist) → James Johnson (English artist), paired with James Johnson (carving artist) → James Johnson (Tlingit artist), taking into account that there do not appear to be any other Wikipedia entries that use the parenthetical qualifier "(carving artist)". —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 23:26, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rename to James Johnson (English artist). James Johnson (engraver) was also a British artist. And the other one should be renamed James Johnson (carver). "Carving artist" is a bizarre description.
