Is this book by this James Johnson? -- GreenC 15:09, 19 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No. According to Google Books and others the book was published in 1876. I have not come across any mention of him as a writer. - Aegoceras (talk) 11:43, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: moved to James Johnson (English artist). Consensus that disambiguating by nationality would be most useful here; "English" was identified as meaningfully more WP:PRECISE than "British", as James Johnson (engraver) is Scottish.
Alternate titles for James Johnson (carving artist) were discussed as well, but none achieved consensus. (closed by non-admin page mover) ModernDayTrilobite (talkcontribs) 15:14, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

James Johnson (artist)James Johnson (painter) – Disambiguate from James Johnson (carving artist) * Pppery * it has begun... 14:52, 10 May 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. SkyWarrior 14:45, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation by nationality does indeed seem a most reasonable compromise. I would support James Johnson (artist)James Johnson (British artist), paired with James Johnson (carving artist)James Johnson (American artist) or, alternatively, James Johnson (artist)James Johnson (English artist), paired with James Johnson (carving artist)James Johnson (Tlingit artist), taking into account that there do not appear to be any other Wikipedia entries that use the parenthetical qualifier "(carving artist)". —Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 23:26, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have no objection to any of the alternate disambiguation schemes proposed. * Pppery * it has begun... 01:05, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
