A fact from James H. Dieterich appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 5 May 2015 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
"Dieterich was named the principle investigator..." - He may be investigating a principle and was named as the investigator of it, but I think what is meant is that he was named the principal investigator, meaning primary or most prominent.
