For some reason a 'speedy deletion' tag was placed on this page, perhaps before I completed it. Either way this person, consul Finn, was an important personality in 19th century Palestine and he was involved in several projects, including the purchasing of land and establishment of an experimental agricultural farm called Artas which today is a village in the West Bank.Seth J. This article dates James Finn as consul in Palestine starting in 1846, based on a paper about his wife from 1985. However both the relevant source in Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 7th Earl of Shaftesbury's article that corresponds with this and Ilan Pappés book "Lobbying for Zionism on Both Sides of the Atlantic" (2024) list the date of arrival/establishment of the consulate as 1838 (Pappé 2024, p23). Does anybody have an idea on how to proceed? I'd simply change the date of arrival for Finn but the body of his text includes that he and his wife moved there together in 1846. I'll try to see if there's any more sources on her or this consulate but I'm not optimistic. Shibabao (talk) 09:52, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
