Hi Phil, I'll be glad to take this one. Initial comments to follow soon--thanks in advance for your hard work. -- Khazar2 (talk) 23:00, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats, by the way, on your "Editor of the Week" award! -- Khazar2 (talk) 23:11, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm still floating on air about that! I keep checking no one has taken the box off my page!

Initial comments

[edit]

This looks solid on first pass, though I haven't had a chance to consult the sources much yet. Will fill out the checklist a bit later. Only two initial questions:

  • "carried off without a struggle by Apoplexy" -- the quotation marks imply this is an exact quotation, but the source's wording is "It was ‘apoplexy’ which carried him off ‘without a struggle’ in September 1820". Perhaps change to just "He was said to have died "without a struggle" of "apoplexy".
  • "much of the policies " -- should this be "many of the policies"? I'm not familiar with "the policies" used in this way (I'm American) so it may just be my own ignorance showing. -- Khazar2 (talk) 23:37, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This fact should be added to the body as well as the lead per WP:LEAD:

I also made a few minor edits as I went--please feel free to revert anything with which you disagree. -- Khazar2 (talk) 00:21, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you! I've adjusted all of the above - I hope I'm completing this 'form' correctly and that I haven't managed to break it! Any other comments you have will be very much appreciated. SagaciousPhil - Chat 10:25, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Checklist

[edit]
Rate Attribute Review Comment
1. Well-written:
1a. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct. Minor question on prose above. Prose is good, and spotchecks show no copyright issues.
1b. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation. One detail from the lead needs to be moved/copied to the body of the text.
2. Verifiable with no original research:
2a. it contains a list of all references (sources of information), presented in accordance with the layout style guideline.
2b. reliable sources are cited inline. All content that could reasonably be challenged, except for plot summaries and that which summarizes cited content elsewhere in the article, must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph (or line if the content is not in prose). Check direct quotation mentioned above
2c. it contains no original research.
3. Broad in its coverage:
3a. it addresses the main aspects of the topic.
3b. it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).
4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without editorial bias, giving due weight to each.
5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
6. Illustrated, if possible, by media such as images, video, or audio:
6a. media are tagged with their copyright statuses, and valid non-free use rationales are provided for non-free content.
6b. media are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions.
7. Overall assessment. Pass
