Middle name discrepancy
[edit]AFHRA Historical Study 91 and Chaney's current USAF biography both cite his middle name as "Eugene." West Point AOG cites it as "Eucene." I treat military AOGs seriously and I've documented cases where USAF bios have minor typos. For this reason I'll leave it "Eucene." I've made a note to myself to research the discrepancy at AFHRA when I return in Sep-Oct 2022. Rob Rosenberger (talk) 23:28, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- I finished my AFHRA research today and I assert his middle name is "Eugene." I speculate West Point AOG mistook "c" for "g" on an ancient typewritten page viewed on, or printed from, microfiche.
- I'll WP:BOLD to change his middle name and ref the WWII documents showing it. I think this "talk" section resolves the issue with no need for a footnote.
