Notability
[edit]The article certainly needs fixing, but a double World Champion rower (and Olympic medal contender) should be notable enough.dramatic (talk) 09:26, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- I can appreciate what you are saying about his accomplishments. But these still need to be verifiable to reliable sources to establish notability. References are very important here on Wikipedia. Sting au Buzz Me... 02:00, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I seem to spend half my time on Wikipedia looking for references which authors should have provided. My comment was mainly an expression of surprise that the article had been tagged for notability rather than as {{unreferenced}} dramatic (talk) 07:24, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
- I tend to use the notability (biography) tag that goes along with the script I use rather than an unreferenced tag if the article is about a person. The article may assert notability but a notability tag can still be used. Well done with the refs by the way. One thing I should point out though is the red links for some of the other athletes. This is bad practice as articles are being created all the time, and people with the same name all of a sudden get wikilinked from this page. I've seen it happen on several other articles where a sea of red links in an article had a few "active" links which upon investigation led to subjects that had nothing to do with the person named in the article. Much safer to de-link red links until the actual articles are created. Sting au Buzz Me... 23:01, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit]Note: I consider that I've modified the article enough now to remove the Conflict of Interest tag. Mr Dallinger - please note that it is not the done thing to edit your own Wikipedia article other than to correct errors of fact. dramatic (talk) 10:48, 13 March 2008 (UTC) Bold text
