Durant City

[edit]

The article contains an unsourced claim (added six years ago) that this town was previously called "Durant City".

One webpage I found that explicitly makes that claim is an obituary [1], but that isn't an acceptable reference for the fact.

There is also [2], a "trivia" style article, that says the town name was changed in 1923 when Durant Motors bought a factory in the area. Once again, this isn't a reference I would use.

The purchase of the factory by Durant Motors has several contemporaneous references available in Google Books. But I can't find anything about town names changing. In particular I can't determine if there was a separate Durant City that was annexed by James City; "A Railroad Atlas of the United States in 1946" shows both names on the map.
