- Born c. 1680 – Born in c. 1680?

- at thirteen years of age – consider amending to something like ‘at 13’.
- Done
- When the War of the Spanish Succession broke out – 'During the Spanish Succession'?
- Done
- After the conflict's end – 'following the end of the war'?
- Done
- being appointed governor of Edinburgh Castle in 1738, and sat in the House of Commons until the general election of 1741 – doesn’t need to be mentioned twice in the lead section
- Reworded
- I would include a short summary of the Personal Life section in the lead.
- Reworded
- Germany – I would consider linking this to an appropriate article as the modern state of Germany didn’t exist in the 18th century.
- Reworded
- Campbell continued to serve - 'He continued to serve'?
- Reworded
- That he was also referred to as Sir James Campbell of Lawers should be mentioned imo

1 Early life
[edit](looks fine)
2 Political career
[edit]- The ODNB mentions that “The long period of peace maintained by Walpole prevented Campbell from seeing service for twenty-eight years”, a noteworthy point imo, but you have have not appeared to have included it.
- In the fourth paragraph of that section, I have included it: "though as historian Henry Morse Stephens noted, the tenure of Robert Walpole as British Prime Minister "prevented Campbell from seeing service for twenty-eight years"." Can you maybe look at it again?
- There is another portrait of Campbell here, let me know if you want to include it and I will upload it into Wikicommons
- It is a good portrait, though am I worried the file will not be as of a high quality as our current one. Do you think it will be? If so, then I'd be more than happy for you to upload it into Wikicommons.
- the tenure of Robert Walpole – replace with 'the tenure of Walpole' (and remove the duplicated link).
- Done
- anti-Walpole politician – Walpole needs an introduction here (perhaps as a note)

3 Later life and death
[edit]- Is the image needed? (If you want it to remain, I would replace the image caption with 'King George II at the Battle of Dettingen, with the John Wootton, Duke of Cumberland and Robert, 4th Earl of Holderness, 27 June 1743 (1743), National Army Museum
- I think we should replace it with the other portrait you mentioned
4 Personal life and family
[edit]- affectionate relationships like these." - the full stop should be on the outside
