Notability
[edit]Frequent mentions of how many slaves he owned. I don't see the notability. I feel that the American slave owners category should be restricted to people whose slave-owning history was notable in itself. Valetude (talk) 18:14, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- I agree. The continuing references to slavery cause this article to read more like a jeremiad than an encyclopedia entry. It is notable that Freeman appointed the first black man (Henry Flipper) to graduate from West Point. This is mentioned in the article without elaboration and is obviously apt to leave a reader wondering why a serial slaveholder would make such an appointment.The article would have much more value if this were discussed.
