In-universe style
[edit]I'm new to Wiki and after editing this article realized there is a policy against "in-universe" writing styles. Would appreciate help in making this article confirm to the correct style.--Amonitrate 16:27, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Film picture
[edit]It might help to have a pic of the reimagined Sonny Crockett fromt he film. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 04:34, 1 October 2007 (UTC)`
- You have one, cause I don't have access to one, and the movie page only has the poster. El Greco(talk) 12:49, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Metro PD vs. Miami PD
[edit]Several references to Miami Police Department were made in the article. The TV show has always portrayed Crockett being a sergeant in the Metro Dade Police Department, there are several close-ups of his ID card and badge supporting this. Appropriate changes were made.õ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.2.190.171 (talk) 22:21, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Crockett's Vietnam Service
[edit]I am unaware of any RS information that backs up the statement that Crockett served in the 1st Cavalry Division and/or Special Forces. I'm also not sure that the series ever said explicitly that he was drafted. If this can't be sourced, it might be best to remove it. Intothatdarkness 16:48, 19 August 2013 (UTC)

Football plus Vietnam just not plausible
[edit]If Crockett's DOB was, indeed, 7/29/1953, it is not plausible for him to have been an All-American wide receiver at Florida (as Tubbs recalls in the pilot) AND serve two tours in Vietnam.
Freshmen were ineligible for varsity football competition by NCAA rule until 1972, meaning Crockett could not have played as an 18-year-old in 1971.
And if he did play as a 19-year old sophomore in 1972, he could not have served two tours in Vietnam, as the last US combat troops left the country in March 1973.
With a 1953 birth year, Crockett would have been eligible for the August 1972 draft lottery, but his number (146) was well higher than the APN of 95 that represented the highest number called. (As a college student, he could have received a deferment anyway.)
His (unstated) football injury would have had to have been something that would preclude him playing while not keeping him from failing a military physical.
So either he was older than stated (Don Johnson was born in December 1949), meaning he could have conceivably played maybe the 1968 season, gotten injured, dropped out of school and been drafted with enough time left to get in two tours prior to March 1973, or he didn't play football or didn't do two tours in Vietnam (though he could have been deployed there and remained in the military after the war and been posted elsewhere). I don't know why this matters to me at all. 2600:8800:987:B600:209E:98A2:30FB:E840 (talk) 02:44, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
- The proposed series timeline for Crockett works for a number of reasons. His being drafted is actually less plausible. The DoB given isn't validated by the series at all, and seems to be one of those internet-created things with no basis in the show. Intothatdarkness 16:05, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
