Article issues
It's good to see this overdue Wikipedia article on Jamaican art, however the article in its present state has a few issues that need addressing. First of all, the tone of the article does not appear to conform to WP:NPOV: examples include:
- "The decimation of this culture as a result of European colonisation heralded a new era of art production more closely related to traditional tastes in Europe and created by itinerant artists keen to return picturesque images of the 'new world' to Europe."
- "Perhaps the earliest artist to take a more Jamaican centered approach to the island culture was..."
- "A more nationalist oriented art movement considered more Jamaican in focus can be dated from the twentieth century."
- "Jamaican art since the island's Independence in 1962 swings between two styles related to its mainstream artists more often exposed to art trends and styles abroad, and the 'intuitive' movement comprising artists who maintain stronger links with African forms of expression, are predominantly closed to any external influences, and are usually self-taught."
- The entire section Jamaican art#Recent trends consists of a personal opinion on the trends for today's Jamaican artist, referenced only by an exhibition with which the article's creator appears to be closely involved, raising questions of Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
In fact, the creator references herself four times here, including a link to her own blog. A wider point of view on the subject is needed to conform with WP:NPOV, so I'll tag the article for expert attention. MuffledThud (talk) 08:37, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

- No OTRS ticket was ever received, but since the user very clearly claims to be the owner of the website in question, I'm not concerned enough to do anything about it. --B (talk) 21:55, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
