Notability
[edit]I have a dim recollection that this was a hit song in my distant youth. (He had quite a number of hits.) Occuli (talk) 21:03, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
- I found "April 1966 *Rolf Harris "Jake The Peg" single debuted at #35 on the Australian Top 40 Chart reaching #5". Perhaps someone with access to 1960s Australian charts can tie this down. Occuli (talk) 10:34, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
What everybody wanted to know was which leg was the dummy. There is a video of him singing this on youtube, I think it was probably his right leg, there is now the ability to view it carefully which there wasn't if you saw him live or on television. PatGallacher (talk) 00:53, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
Error with dates
[edit]The date of recording is given as 1967 but the release date is given as 1965. This can't be right! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dudfoot (talk) 16:12, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Jake's accent
[edit]What accent did Rolf use when singing this song? I'm guessing it's Cockney. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.134.127.227 (talk) 11:40, 15 April 2015 (UTC)
Adam Hills parody

Please add the following to the article:
"Jake the Peg" had been a childhood favourite of comedian Adam Hills, because he grew up with only one leg, and Hills performed the song with his prosthetic leg as a child. Hills performed a parody of the song on The Last Leg following Harris's conviction.

I am having trouble with the CAPTCHA on the site, so am putting it in nowiki so that I can save the page. 110.20.234.69 (talk) 06:26, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
- Question: the source seems to say that Hills didn't perform it, rather that he could not come up with a suitable parody and declared that the song could no longer be performed. Do you read it differently? Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 16:28, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
- I saw the show as well, though I'm not sure how to cite it. He initially said there was no way to parody it, then went ahead and did it anyway. Can't find a youtube video. Am happy to accept it if you just want to put the first part, without mentioning Hills' performance. --110.20.234.69 (talk) 21:19, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
- Okay, I can see how the source reads that way. Pinging MusikAnimal because I can't see the revdeleted edits and I don't want to reintroduce material that is unacceptable, although I think this edit is probably fine. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 14:40, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
- Done since MusikAnimal hasn't replied. If the edit is problematic it can be reverted. Ivanvector 🍁 (talk) 18:08, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
