The Inevitable Question

[edit]

"Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak/Somewhere in this town"

So, er, how about somewhere near the jail?

Hark at Stuart Maconie.
The liner notes to Jailbreak set the album in a world in thrall to a dictator: "the Overmaster, whose lust for ultimate power had become an obsession. Religion and the media were all under his control and computer files were kept on all known living persons within the city zones". Innocent people were jailed and, if they escaped, "robot trackers, military police, dogs and all available vehicles were on the hunt."
So, no; that doesn't narrow it down at all.

There are four, maybe five, jails in Dublin, Lynott's home town. See the discussion in the comments section below the line here: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/oct/22/rise-and-fall-of-thin-lizzy-no-one-sitting-in-shadows Ericoides (talk) 08:27, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

AC/DC - cover?

[edit]

Does anybody know whether the AC/DC song Jailbreak is a cover version of the Thin Lizzy original? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.172.179.109 (talk) 15:35, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They're completely different songs. That was how I discovered Thin Lizzy - checking out their "Jailbreak" to see if it was the same as AC/DC's. Different songs, both brilliant. Bretonbanquet (talk) 15:56, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
