Wrong term?
[edit]I think the term Jagdgeschwader is wrong when used for the german fighter units of World War I. During WWI they were called Jagdstaffeln (abbreviated Jasta with the J pronounced as if it was a Y). The Jagdstaffeln were part of bigger units called fliegerabteilung. I think Jagdgeschwader was only used later. There were Jagdgeschwaders during WWII, but not during WWI... can anybody confirm that ? Kintaro-san (talk) 03:27, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, but all that can be "confirmed" is that you are mistaken. If you have no access to any sources on the subject - I suggest reading the article on the Jastas which may clarify these matters. (Click on the blue link) --Soundofmusicals (talk) 14:38, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Trains
[edit]OK< dickhead. you have removed my reference to trains 3 times. here is the wiki entry that validates it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manfred_von_Richthofen QUOTE> In this way, JG1 became "The Flying Circus", its name coming both from the unit's mobility (including the use of tents and trains) and its brightly coloured aircraft Hopefully, you will add trains now.
- I have moved this from the article itself and put it here. Sure, if there happened to be a railway between the two bases they would have used a train - but a lot of their moves must (due to the absense of a direct rail line in the correct place) have been by road. If this is a point worth calling someone a dickhead over I don't think you'll last long here. Grow up. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 04:39, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Title Of This Jagdgeschwader Wikipedia Article
[edit]Every reference of which I am familiar refers to this unit as "Jagdgeschwader I", not "Jagdgeschwader 1". Therefore, I believe the main title should be corrected. I would think there would be a bot that could change the Wikipedia article hyperlinks that link to the current title to go to the new, corrected title. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rtmorphine (talk • contribs) 06:28, 18 June 2019 (UTC)
