The article contradicts itself.
[edit]The opening sentence says he died in Toledo, while the closing sentence says he died on a Greek island. Can anyone find a definitive source on the matter? IrishStephen (talk) 21:06, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
The dates given for most of the works listed in the "Works" section are after ben Asher's lifetime. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Joie2 (talk • contribs) 14:36, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
Why are you so bothered by a contradiction? אלו ואלו דברי אלקים חיים Toddcs (talk) 02:02, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
What the article says is that he probably died at Toledo, but the community at Chios have a tradition that he died there. So the article makes it clear that there are two contradictory sources, and also makes it clear which one is more likely. 2A00:23C8:1900:8A00:E01C:AA03:C337:D4DC (talk) 21:53, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
Ridiculous "portrait"
[edit]There is no benefit in posting an undated fantasy drawing several centuries younger than his life dates. This is OK for children books, but not encyclopaedias. The editor who uploaded it on Wikimedia had no idea about any details concerning it. The Leonardo-style "portrait" is most certainly not "medieval".
Like in all cases of ancient personalities, unless there is a traditionally accepted physical description or even drawn, painted or sculpted portrait, using modern ones is an infantile attempt to "give them a face". Within Judaism and Islam it's particularly bizarre, as "holy men" usually adhered to and upheld the commandments prohibiting this. Arminden (talk) 08:32, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
