"... products produced by free negro labor, eschewing products produced ..." 44% of this clause contains "produc"...
"graduated from the ICY on May 6, 1857; the class's lone graduate" why not "was his class's lone graduate from the ICY..; he earned..." (to avoid the repeate of "graduate").
"In 1858, accepted" missing a "he" or "White"...
Not sure a link to a common term such as "chess" is strictly needed.
Could add a thumb of Catto to embellish that portion of the article?
I would still consider de facto to be Latin enough to need italicising.
"the Philadelphia Inquirer " is actually "The Philadelphia Inquirer "
