I fail to see the issue here...--Gainax 01:16, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
You admin keep trying to delete this page yet you do not care to give reason or explaination!--Gainax 16:08, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- ...two minutes later, you added your vote to the AfD page, where reason and explanation was given. There was also reason and explanation given when the page was tagged as a speedy delete (which it shouldn't have been) and as a prod. Is there a part of the explanations given so far that hasn't been clear? Ask here, at the AfD, or on my talk page if you need help with it and I can fill you in some. OK I admit. I am a n00b in wiki. I just started and it took me a while to get my page ready.. but within that 2 or so hours I spent adding stuff I had admin snapping at my heels trying to delete my first page! I wanted to protect it so I did what I thought would work: removed the tags. Sorry if this was wrong but it's all i knew. --Gainax 16:36, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

MBE/OBE
[edit]While it's quite clear from the BBC citation that Beere is an OBE, the University of Leicester bulletin citation about an MBE is questionable. The Leicester citation is from June 2002, the same time she received the OBE; she wouldn't have gotten both an MBE and an OBE at the same time. It seems correct to remove the reference to the MBE unless a dated source can show that she was awarded an MBE sometime before the OBE. It is a minor point though, the OBE is higher up the pecking order anyway. --Wine Guy Talk 08:26, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Does that do the trick?--Gainax 11:00, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- MBE and OBE are different classes of the same order, the Order of the British Empire, and MBE is the lower class or rank of the two. It is possible for someone to be appointed MBE, and then several years later to be promoted to a higher class, but that does not seem to be the case here. The University of Leicester bulletin appears to be incorrect; they wrote in June 2002 that she was appointed MBE, when in fact she was made an OBE in June '02. School newspapers and newsletters (even those of reputable colleges and universities) are generally considered a bit dubious, and should only in rare circumstances be used as a source. In some cases, the only "editorial oversight" in those publications comes from a second-year journalism undergrad who had a few too many pints at the pub the night before, so little factual errors tend to creep in. However, none of that changes the fact that Ms. Beere is clearly a notable educator. Nice work on the article. --Wine Guy Talk 19:46, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
Where do we go from here?
[edit]It seems this page is to be kept now, so do I remove the tag or does it timeout and disappear or what? ...(god im such a noob)

- An admin uninvolved with the AfD will close it within a day or two. Tijuana Brass¡Épa! 16:38, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- To that I'll add that AfD discussions generally carry on for about 5 days, so it could remain open until Monday (unlikely, but possible-don't worry if remains open that long.) When it is closed, the closing admin will remove the tag. --Wine Guy Talk 20:14, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
