Are sources available for the preacher and pseudonym claims? dpotter 01:03, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
I think the article goes too far in saying:
"Several chroniclers, including Henry Knighton, mention Straw, though Knighton erroneously confuses him with Tyler"
The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography says:
"Knighton and other sources suggest that Tyler is to be identified with the enigmatic rebel leader Jack Straw. It has been generally assumed that this is erroneous, but the two names are linked so frequently that it is perhaps feasible that Jack Straw was indeed an alias adopted by Tyler."
Henry Knighton was a much closer contemporary than other sources, so I don't think we can take an Olympian view and dismiss his view as certainly wrong, considering dearth of hard evidence of a distinct and real figure called Jack Straw. Add the word "perhaps" before "erroneously", I suggest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roseberyxxx (talk • contribs) 11:43, 27 December 2023 (UTC)
