The wrong Hunt?

I found the following about Frederick John Hunt. I just don't think it's WP's Hunt, for two reasons:

1. There is no mention of his DFC in these listings.

2. Would a commodore's daughter marry a mailman in 1920s Britain?

Anyhow, here they are:

6 August 1926 appointed Temporary Postman Messenger.

6 September 1932 appointed Postman for Capel, Dorking.

9 April 1937 appointed Male Sorter in London Post Office.

The Times reported the forthcoming marriage in the 8 September 1927 edition says Frederick John Hunt, DFC of Ellisfield MilborneOne (talk) 20:10, 10 August 2011 (UTC)

I have no problems with the marriage announcement; I found it in Flight, and believe it because it also mentions the DFC. That's why I included it in the article. However, the three factoids concerning the Postal Service do not mention the DFC, and The London Gazette is scrupulous in noting such hono(u)rs. Thence, my suspicion above: would a commodore's daughter marry a mailman? Is the mailman our ace in later life, or not?

He clearly did marry Frances Selmer in Hampstead but I cant find any connection with your postman, perhaps we should let it lie unless somebody comes up with a reliable source. MilborneOne (talk) 15:25, 14 August 2011 (UTC)
