[edit]There is still a lot of corporate PR guff as of 2023. I've begun pairing back bits of the page that don't meet Wikipedia standards in terms of significance. A lot of stuff under `Company culture' is particularly egregious given it doesn't quantify the scale of fundraising for causes or make the link between individual actions of employee and how that reflects on the general working culture. This is a company turning over multi-billions of dollars and not a single quantification of what its social impact is. If there isn't a dollar value or employ FTE commitment level, it probably doesn't rate a mention on wikipedia. Fincle (talk) 04:09, 27 December 2023 (UTC)

[edit]While I have major reservations about the article (currently) using textual information at http://www.fundinguniverse.com/company-histories/jabil-circuit-inc-history/ (the website doesn't seem to be a reliable source, and the whole thing may be a massive copyright violation), I do think the list of sources is quite good. History:
The company was founded in 1966 by James Golden and William Morean, who started assembling circuit boards around a kitchen table in Michigan. From the beginning, the company's goal was to find new ways to add value for customers. Through strategic partnerships, investments in the future, and a focus on its people and communities, Jabil has grown from its humble beginnings into a global, Fortune 150 company with over 260,000 employees. Despite this growth, Jabil has remained true to its roots by continuing to make things and make them better for its employees, customers, communities and the world. Jabil went public in 1993 and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol JBL in 1998. The company was added to the S&P 500 Index in 2001 but was later moved to the S&P MidCap 400 Index in 2014.

Jabil is an American company that provides electronic manufacturing services (EMS) and supply chain solutions to various industries, including healthcare, life sciences, clean technology, instrumentation, defense, aerospace, automotive, computing, storage, consumer products, networking and telecommunications. The company's services include design engineering, manufacturing and supply chain management for both the EMS and consumer industries and materials technology services such as plastics, metals, automation and tooling.
Company Culture:
Jabil's company culture emphasizes the concept of lean manufacturing, which aims to improve processes by reducing waste and increasing process speed. In September 2011, Jabil held 14,000 Kaizen Blitz events, which is a Japanese term for improvement, focusing on projects to improve processes. Many of Jabil's senior leaders have undergone or achieved Six Sigma Black Belt Certification, a quality management methodology. Jabil also holds an annual improvement competition known as "Deliver Best Practices," a company-wide competition to recognize, support, and promote process advancements within the company. Social & Environmental Responsibility:
The company is also committed to social and environmental responsibility initiatives. Jabil employs a Director of Social and Environmental Responsibility who also serves on the board of directors for the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition. Jabil has been involved in charity and non-profit organizations outside of the Tampa/St. Petersburg area, such as being a donor for the Guadalajara Los Pinos Boys Shelter in Los Pinos, Mexico. In Japan, Jabil Gotemba employees harvest and sell fruits to Jabil employees and use the proceeds to purchase and donate wheelchairs to the Gotemba community. Jabil employee Rick Smiley climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2011 to raise money for charity and went to an orphanage in Kenya called "New Hope."
As part of Jabil's global initiative, more than 7,000 employees donated money to help the victims of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Jabil Green Point Wuxi and Wuxi Konggang Industrial Park also teamed up to build the Shuofang Agricultural Sanatorium for the Disabled and the Health and Happiness Garden. The facility opened on May 15, 2012.
