Humm, looking back in history, there used to be a lot to this article, but somewhere along the line it got whacked.
The original article confused JRT with JPI Pascal, but some of the facts were correct. Why was whacking all of it a good idea ?--Samiam95124 29 June 2005 20:58 (UTC)
Er, after looking at it, it was mostly misrecalled facts and opinions. Sorry.--192.18.42.11 29 June 2005 22:34 (UTC)
The term p-code has got fairly muddled in Wikipedia. The original ETH Zurich project was Pascal-P, then the P2 or section version of that was adapted to become the p-system. The problem is that this article states it used p-code, but I highly suspect that could refer to either Pascal-P or P-system. In fact, the virtual machine code formats of these two systems was different, since UCSD reworked the virtual code from the P2 project to be more closely matched to byte oriented processors.
I think it would be good to get this article settled according to which branch of the family it came down. I suspect JRT is its own branch off Pascal-P, unrelated to UCSD.

I'm not sure why the hater quotes at the end of the article. I used JRT Pascal 3.0 at the time, and it was pretty nice. The "language definition" problems were because the language definition had some serious problems as far as I recall: every subsequent Pascal also fixed them. Anyway, "fiasco" out of context is not terribly helpful: a more complete quote would be better. --2610:10:20:216:222:19FF:FE1F:DEA9 (talk) 18:27, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
