[edit]I live near Bournemouth in the UK
Way back in the 90's someone invented a camera that could nab you if you crossed a red light
There is a very busy junction called Cemetery Junction https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=50.732088,-1.874093&spn=0.005697,0.013937&t=m&z=17&layer=c&cbll=50.732088,-1.874093&panoid=CUhe6nKbDEzOwXKs-zWpKQ&cbp=12,185.05,,0,0 controled by traffic lights (old school, been there years)
Anyway they put these red light cameras up but guess what with several tons of traffic flowing no one wanted to die and be fined for it!
So they moved the camera a few yards down the road https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=50.72959,-1.866893&spn=0.005671,0.013937&t=m&z=17&layer=c&cbll=50.729924,-1.867492&panoid=CMHGn08IZuu0GwpmzBfG5g&cbp=12,309.31,,0,-3.81 and created a junction where the light shows green until you get near it at which point it goes red and then waits for someone else to approach from the other side then changes red to them and back to green for you, and get this your engine uses fuel that is taxed whilst this happens!
Ever since Bournemouth has been ripping out roundabouts and putting up nogo you green light traffic light controlled junctions
Further the Man who is in charge of this flies in from Scotland every week (he is Scottish, nah can't say why that is obvious but goto Glasgow with an English accent and experience it) and is paid over £1/4 million a year!!!
