First name
[edit]Edwards' first name is not well established: I can find few sources online, and even fewer reliable sources. The leading contender is "James", as listed in the apparently self-published book by film producer Leonhard H. Gmür, [1], and several wikis and self-published websites, all probably not reliable: TheBiography.us , WikiTree, mcnbiografias.com, The director of 1917's Cleopatra is referred to in passing as "John Gordon Edwards" in this book. Note there is also a Jack Gordon Edwards who appears to have acted in one silent film in 1924. I've added "James" to the main article for the time being: if anyone can find more conclusive records (e.g. birth or death records) that would be great. --Animalparty! - So I'm working on assembling the sources necessary for a full rewrite of this poor excuse for an article. But I can at least clear up the naming. J. Gordon Edwards himself was born John Gordon McEdward, although he went by the better-known stage name essentially his entire life. Edwards had one son, who was born John Gordon McEdward Jr., and who was sometimes credited as J. Gordon Edwards Jr. during his career as a child actor in theater; later, he would have small roles in film under a couple of different variations of his name, before settling into a long (if not immensely distinguished) career as a below the line production manager under the name Jack McEdward. Contrary to quite a few sources that try to distinguish between J. Jr. and Jack, Edwards had only the one son. Squeamish Ossifrage (talk) 21:07, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
