Fair use rationale for Image:Jd irving.jpg

[edit]

Image:Jd irving.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:25, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Conflicting information among connected pages, Company hierarchy

[edit]

This page claims that JD Irving LTD is a subsidiary of the Irving Group of Companies; and links to another page titled; Irving group of companies in which states JD Irving LTD is the parent company and the Irving group of companies is a informal title.

It obviously can not be both.

Irving Group of Companies is not a registered business, it possess no stock value, retains no offices or employees, and therefore cannot own, direct, or participate in the organizational function of JD Irving LTD.

Blacks law dictionary defines subsidiary as; An enterprise that is controlled by another by owning more than 50 % of voting stock.

JD Irving LTD itself states it is the parent company of its all its subsidiary's and therefore, Since Irving Group of Companies doesnt physically exist as an independant agency, I propose for the sake of matter of fact along with readership continuity we allow a correction of such to reflect the true nature of the phrase; Irving group of companies, as a colloquial expression, and not allow it to be portrayed as a physical company in ownership of JDI. @Viewmont Viking, Do you have any proof disputing the above addressed issue? If not I would kindly ask you to stop reverting the page by Introducing deliberate factual errors via Misleading edit summaries due to you Not assuming good faith. Kabiblehopper (talk) 11:50, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Through circular ownership, the subsidiary can be the parent company of its parent company. This might not be the case here, but it might be possible. WiinterU (talk) 13:02, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm thinking a redirect to Irving Shipbuilding would be the most appropriate action on the page to prevent a fork. --VVikingTalkEdits 14:14, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
