Firstly, after the war he moved from Madison to Oshkosh, where he abandoned his wife (who later went insane) in 1871 to become Florida's attorney general. In 1872, while still a Liberal Republican, he joined the conspiracy of Samuel Day to overthrow Governor Reed, since Reed had snubbed Drew of the permanent AG position. This failed, and it is likely this conspiracy, in conjunction with his Liberal Republican membership, which stalled his appointment as US attorney.
We know he moved to Washington DC to become a private lawyer when he left the position of US attorney, which was at latest 1886, as that is when his 2nd wife, who is from DC, died. In December 1894, he did the deal with the railroad in West Virginia. At some point he retired and moved to Europe with his 3rd wife, later fleeing during World War I. Where he lived specifically is a mystery, and hopefully another article is able to be uncovered, but it was likely in France, the Low Countries, or Germany-Austria, since those were the nations most directly affected, but we won't know for sure unless another article is discovered.
So he flees Europe at some point in the late 1910s. He moved Philly first, then to St. Albans, West Vrginia. He lived in the Ravenswood (or Ravens Court) MANSION, not the town of Ravenswood. He often spent winters at his home in Jacksonville, FL. He was at his winter home in Jacksonville for 2 weeks before he died. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Curbon7 (talk • contribs) 19:57, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Drew's 2nd wife Sarah Jane's last name is shown as Salter. This could be a typo, however, as I couldn't really find much info on a Salter family in the Washington DC area. However, I did find evidence, including women named Sarah Jane that fit the timeline, from the Slater family in Kanawha County (Charleston), West Virginia, where Drew is known to have worked. In case someone may want to investigate further. Curbon7 (talk) 21:58, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
