Doubtful but interesting
[edit]Not at all convinced that Archibald Charles Douglas can be made to equal J. Archibald Douglas as per the Crowley reference here. Archie was a common given name for the Douglas clan
It seems likely that J Archibald was entirely a fabrication: a convenient expert on the spot to defuse the Issa situation. No other trace of him remains in the record. Fueled by publicity for the Issa document, Russian sentiment was gathering to annex Tibet; and England naturally wanted no competition near her Indian borders. Painting The Life of Issa as a forgery would raise anti-Russian sentiment in Britain and the world.
&It seems, from my research that the college at Agra was and is a monastic girl's school. . .Klasovsky (talk) 16:49, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
