Homonyms

[edit]

Jōgen may refer to:

This set of nengō used to be identified as

  • Jōgen (first) (貞元), Japanese era from 976 to 978
  • Jōgen (承元), Japanese era from 1207 to 1211

It was suggested that the period designations would be clearer; and the same pattern seemed useful in the cases of other homonym pairs in the list of Japanese era names:

   * 976_ 貞元 |Jōgen (976 - 978) ---> [Jōgen (Heian period)]
   * 1046 永承 |Eishō (1046 - 1053)
   * 1099 康和 |Kōwa (1099 - 1104)
   * 1131 天承 |Tenshō (1131 - 1132)
   * 1142 康治 |Kōji (1142 - 1144)
   * 1207 承元 |Jōgen (1207 - 1211) --> [Jōgen (Kamakura period)]
   * 1222 貞応 |Jōō (1222 - 1224)
   * 1278 弘安 |Kōan (1278 - 1288)
   * 1312 正和 |Shōwa (1312 - 1317)
   * 1361 康安 |Kōan (1361 - 1362)
   * 1381 弘和 |Kōwa (1381 - 1383)
