[edit]

The original article was based on a computer translation, flagged as a "rough translation". I did not locate the original source but have tried to polish the translation using a similar source of information at the Subprefecture of Itaim Paulista [1] and inference based on my own knowledge of Portuguese. I have now checked the translation against the original Portuguese article at http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Itaim_Paulista and revised the translation accordingly. Opbeith (talk) 09:29, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Move

[edit]

Just how many "Itaim Paulista"s was this article going to be confused with so that it had to be moved to the elephantine "Itaim Paulista (district of Sao Paulo)" without the courtesy of any discussion? Opbeith (talk) 22:36, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I thought it was obvious as many of the districts share names with subprefectures and bairros. I am expanding the subdivisions of São Paulo, and this creates the need to disambiguate the names so that it is clear if the article is referring to a subprefecture, district, or bairro. Further, many of these names are municipalities and districts in other Brazilian states, creating further need for disambiguation. This method was mimicked from the Portuguese wikipedia. These are clearly non-controversial page moves done for disambiguation for expansion. I'm quite familiar with the subdivisions of São Paulo and the intricacies of Brazilian municipal governments. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 00:25, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • Also, the previous version of this article combined the subprefecture and district into one article, which is not how the vast majority of the other articles in this class are done. The edits were explained in the edit summary. The "removed" content was about the subprefecture which was moved to that new article. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 00:32, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We differ in our idea of what "explanation" and discussion means. Opbeith (talk) 21:04, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
