Issam Al Zaim

[edit]

He was a professor at the university of Mexico before returning to Syria at the invitation of the president of Syria. An intellectual who leaned towards a leftist world view, he tried to hold the corrupt elite in Syria responsible for their wrongdoings, but was constantly sabotaged by influential people in power. His death occurred in palmyra before a scheduled presentation he was invited to make at that city. He was staunchly opposed to elevating the price of diesel because of the hardship it will cause to average consumer. He was convinced this may spark an uprising which few years afterwards turned out to be the case. 2603:8000:3741:AC00:2C10:1A6:EF40:C558 (talk) 04:32, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
