Original language
[edit]The article has the Song Qingling biography as translated into English, but I happen to know that the biography was translated from English into Chinese by Shen Suru (沈苏儒), and I believe that his name appears on the cover of the Chinese edition as the translator. I don't know what to do about this, or if it matters. — Pekinensis 20:17, 17 August 2005 (UTC)
Refugees
[edit]Would somebody kindly tell me for what reason Epstein`s family should have fled from the approaching German Army during World War ONE ?
Quote: "During the first two years of World War I, most Israelites all over the planet kept their fingers crossed for Imperial Germany, while the German forces who invaded the (formerly Polish) western part of Czarist Russia were orded to keep the Slavian mob from violently trespassing against the local Jewish population. When German troops captured Polish or Baltic cities from the Russians in World War One they were frequently hailed as liberators by the local Jews. That`s why twenty-five years later so many Polish and Soviet Jews initially refused to believe rumours about anti-Jewish atrocities and didn`t escape from the rapidly advancing Nazi war machine when German forces returned to Poland in World War II. In the Austo-Hungarian Empire the German-speaking elites among Slavian populations were mostly Jewish. Franz Kafka for instance occasionally related to himself as a German, as did Nathanael West`s father wo originated from Wolhynia, as did many Jewish intellectuals from the Austro-Hungarian city of Cernowitz" 172.181.98.188 01:01, 20 February 2006
- Weird, agrammatical "quote" without a source ... —Babelfisch 01:56, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Chinese name
[edit]Could we get the pinyin for his Chinese name included here? LordAmeth 10:47, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- Voilà. —Babelfisch 06:27, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. That's interesting, that his Chinese name would be a pronunciation approximation, instead of a new name entirely. Take, for example, William Adams, who became Miura Anjin in Japan, and not Uiriamu Adamuzu or something. Just interesting, that's all. Thanks again. LordAmeth 10:53, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
American?
[edit]He is placed in the 'Jewish-American journalist' category. Presumably that category is for American citizens. Was Epstein ever an American citizen? Thanks Hmains 03:13, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
