[edit]Can you help me to understand why this page has been tag for deletion? Because is not a notable event? What in your opinion makes an event a notable event? I have provided third party references to it (Top End Arts), if you Google for it, you have many search results. This is an organized event that expects yearly 1000 people, which in the NT is a lot of people for an event of this kind. Do you want me to provide more references is that it? I think is a bit harsh stamping an article for deletion just like that. In my opinion you should have inserted the notability template first. Luis v silva (talk) 22:40, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Luis. Some comments. Firstly, it's a PROD notice and can be removed by anyone, including yourself. Secondly, the references are not reliable sources, they are either self-references or promotional in nature. Thirdly, I don't think think every rave event is automatically notable; they should meet notability criteria, including independent third party coverage from multiple reliable sources. If you can find that, then this article should be safe for deletion. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 22:55, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Mattinbgn thanks for the quick reply. I am new to wikipedia and that notice even if a prod notice (as you said) seemed a bit harsh to me. Anyway, I have added another source to it. You must realize that is hard to find media coverage for an event that is per-se semi-underground, and in a place where newspaper present daily on the front page crocodiles and cane-toads. If as i said you google for this event you get tons of blogs entries of people who been there, people who played there, or by some reason been part of it. An event of this kind that attracts every year 1000 people in a place (NT) where only 200,000 live is a lot don't you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luis v silva (talk • contribs) 23:27, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- The problem is, of course, that the criteria for inclusion in Wikipedia is not truth, but verifiability. Unless we can show, through reliable sources, that an article is notable and factual, then it really can't be included in Wikipedia. I have some sympathy for those semi-underground activities that don't get media coverage, but if was significant surely the NT News would find some space for an article or two. Certainly, the dance events in Kryal Castle near Ballarat get enough media attention in Melbourne. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 23:35, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Doof?
[edit]I'm not into the Australian scene so I don't know where the lines get drawn, but to me this has some semblance of what is described as a doof. Is this term applicable here? __meco (talk) 12:41, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
