Removed text
[edit]Greatsouthbay (talk · contribs) removed some text that I believe is useful and should be reinstated in the article where appropriate. The rationale for removal was: "removed extraneous info about other raceways on LI. The article is about Islip Speedway. Let's remain focused on that, especially in the lede." I would argue that it proves historical and regional context, something that would certainly be in a larger, more developed article. I'm posting the deleted text here for now, and maybe we can find some use for it eventually.
Islip was one of three auto race tracks on Long Island, along with Riverhead Raceway and Freeport Stadium (and a drag strip).[1] The only auto racing track that remains on Long Island is Riverhead Raceway, after Islip closed down.[2]
